About Debbie Harris

Debbie Harris is co-owner of New Creation Counseling Center and continues to provide direct patient therapy as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). She felt called to a counseling vocation while working at a Christian sports camp during her sophomore year of college, and that sense of purpose guided her academic path into psychology and counseling.

She earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology and Counseling from Southwest Baptist University and completed a master’s degree in Community Counseling and Marriage and Family Therapy at John Brown University. In 2001 she co-founded New Creation Counseling Center, an agency that provided therapy to many abused children and their families across the four-state region of Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Missouri. The center partnered with children’s advocacy groups to support healing for children who had experienced abuse.

Harris has an extensive clinical background treating trauma, post-traumatic stress, anxiety, depression, and a range of other disorders. In 2012 she completed certification in equine therapy with OK Corral, adding experiential approaches to her clinical toolbox. In 2021 she began working with a local school system to perform special needs testing and to offer therapy to children within the schools. She is also currently working with many young women who have been victims of sex trafficking, continuing a long-standing commitment to serving vulnerable populations.

Her practice addresses a broad spectrum of concerns including stress, relationship and family issues, addiction, grief, intimacy-related matters, eating and sleeping problems, parenting challenges, anger and self-esteem, career questions, bipolar disorder, ADHD, and coping with life changes. Guided by a ministry-minded approach, Harris aims to make a measurable difference in the lives of individuals and families who are hurting.

Could Online Therapy Be a Good Fit?

Many people want to know whether online therapy can meet their needs. For a range of common concerns - including stress, anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, and life transitions - online therapy can be comparable in effectiveness to traditional in-person sessions, offering a viable option for many individuals.

One major benefit is flexibility. Clients can connect with therapists in the format that suits them best: video calls, phone sessions, live chat, or in-app messaging. This flexibility helps make counseling easier to fit into busy routines and can reduce barriers to consistent care.

Licensed professionals offer these services, and clients are able to change therapists if they seek a different fit. For those weighing whether virtual sessions are right for them, online therapy provides accessible ways to pursue support while working with trained therapists.
