About Leanne Glennon
Leanne has extensive experience supporting people affected by sexual abuse, complex and traumatic bereavement, and domestic abuse. When trauma is a factor she commonly uses the three-phase model of trauma recovery associated with Judith Herman - Safety and Stabilisation, Remembrance and Trauma Processing, and Reconnection and Integration - recognising that recovery is often nonlinear and that clients may return to different phases as needed. She begins trauma work by normalising how the brain and nervous system respond to overwhelming events and applies that understanding where appropriate across a range of difficulties.
She is also experienced in supporting people who self-harm; her MSc research explored the experiences of therapists working with self-harm, informing a thoughtful and reflective clinical approach. Leanne works with a broad range of presenting issues including anxiety, depression, grief, parenting and family concerns, attachment and abandonment issues, autism and Asperger syndrome, eating and body image difficulties, chronic illness and pain, dissociation, and relationship and communication problems.
Leanne approaches therapy without judgement and with a focus on each person as the expert in their own life. She aims to help clients uncover and build on their strengths, supporting them through the challenging moments of therapy and empowering them toward a more fulfilling life.
